Capital City Of Ghana

Accra is the capital city of Ghana, the nation on the coast of the western Africa. The Accra city is divided into two parts namely the Greater Accra Region and the Accra Metropolis District. Accra is the economic, administrative and communications center of the Ghana. About 70% of country’s manufacturing capacity is placed in this district. Since 1877, Accra is constituted as the capital of Ghana. The historic public buildings demonstrate city’s transition from the 19th century suburb to a modern metropolis of today.

The prominent attractions of Accra are the National Theatre with its unique and modern architecture, National Museum having display of exhibits which shows the heritage of Ghana from ancient times to the modern age, the National Arts Center having arts & crafts that suits all tastes, The Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, Independence Square, Accra International Conference Centre, Makola Market and the Fishing port at Jamestown.

Historically it is known that Accra was founded by the Ga people in the fourteenth century. During its history, Accra has also been serving as a centre for trade with the Portuguese and they built a small fort in the town at that time. However, this city remained under influence of other European nations like Swedish, French, Dutch, Danish and British in different times and they built these national too built their forts in Accra.

Nowadays Accra has emerged as a developed city around the original Ga town. The British, Dutch and Danish forts and the neighboring communities are also the integral part of modern Accra. The city is spread along the Atlantic Coast with great value of luxury hotels, night clubs and restaurant with outstanding view of the Coast. A wide range of excellent public monuments, commercial areas and museums. There is plenty to explore like busy Market and tree-line residential areas.
