Marketing your business online is always lucrative but many local companies don’t feel the need of it. According to them, as their maximum customers are local so they don’t consider internet marketing local and think that local advertising is enough.

Most of the people who have access to computer, turn to internet for finding the product, service or information. Google has been enjoying number one position in search engines, so every website out there wishes to grab higher ranking in this particular search engine.

When you are targeting the local market, remember to localize your website and its content. Perceive your entire website as mirror of your business to the target market and customers. When a reader looks at your site’s main page and other pages as well, should completely understand about your offering and know your geographical area. Some good ideas about scoring high in Google local are- keep a contact us page that has local phone number and address, discuss or inform about local happenings, events and news and much more.

In local search engine marketing the keywords matter a lot. Select the keywords that compliment the areas you want to market to the target customers.

Many cities’ websites are maintained by the chamber of commerce, its city library, or any other organization. They usually list local business websites with little or free of cost. Search for such locally owned directories and portals that can meet up your demands.

You can list your website in National City guides, you can get this service at very reasonable rates. Thus when your website is listed in local or national online directories and guides, it gets better exposure. Here ensure you include local keywords in the content as well as the listing.
Also do the listing in industry specific directories so that you get maximum of targeted customers.
