Carmel Anthony, Full Impact In The Ncaa

By: Stephen Lars Home | Recreation-and-Sports | Basketball

With the arrival of so many non-American players to the college basketball league, this one seems a bit devalued and by consequence the NBA which is the strongest in the world pro basketball. But there is one player we can still hope will do well at a top-level position; he is young Carmelo Anthony a University of Syracuse freshman.

Carmel is original from Baltimore and he is currently studying Social Service and Health Technician as a career. The professional basketball scouts place him in the next draft as the number 2 option only surpassed by another young North American value LeBron James.

His early career was quickly on the right tracks as the winger was appointed as the Big East Conference Rookie of the Week. The newcomer has disputed to date two games in which he has averaged 27.5 points and 10.5 repercussions. Last November in a game against Memphis his team lost but Carmel achieved 27 points and 11 captures. While in the next game, he scored 28 points in the victory over Valparaiso.

The experts affirm Carmelo can be a star due to his unlimited qualities and they don't doubt to compare him with Scottier Pippen. "He has a great ball management and a good dribbling. He knows to handle the game to its height and its strength. Is intense. He possesses great shot in suspension. He understands the game. Is very good launcher and has a vision with creativity. His impact in the college basketball has been immediate".

But there are always more things to learn, as he needs to be able to make the next step, which is to enter the NBA for which he needs to acquire more consistency and maturity.

Last summer, Anthony was one of the twelve members of the U.S. junior team in the World Championship. The Syracuse player disputed the five games as holder, he averaged almost 16 points by game, to that he added six repercussions, two assistances and a ball robbery. He was the best of the American selection, although the team only achieved the bronze medal against Argentine, after falling in semifinals for two points against Venezuela.

Among his other achievements he won the McDonald’s All-American contest prior to the game in which he scored 19 points and led his team to a victory of 138 to 107.
