Catarina's Italian Village Review

By: Gen Wright Home | Food-and-Drink

Catarina's Italian Village, nestled in Rhode Island, is a restaurant loved by many. Dating back to its opening day in 1976, the italian village restaurant drew guests who were looking for traditional, delicious recipes served in a comfortable setting. The Mollo brothers founded the small eatery and based it on old family recipes. Because of these, a feeling of authentic Italy was established for guests and owners alike. In 2006, the brothers began to serve guests at their Narragansett location in RI.

Compelling, rustic ingredients flavor a menu that will suit any taste preference. Imported cheeses from Milano and Parma, Modena's balsamic vinegar, and olive oil directly from Lucca are just a few reasons why Catarina's Italian Village stands out among the rest. This perfect combination of old world charm and fresh, charming recipes create an taste never to be forgotten.

The restaurant's menu begins with freshly baked bread, mixed green salads and soups that are sure to tempt taste buds. Then, seafood and pasta dishes include shrimp, scallops, mussels, and calamari. Variations on these pastas create distinguished choices and sauces vary from tangy marinara to creamy pesto or chardonnay. Aside from these, veal is an important addition to any italian menu and Catarina's holds no exception. Delicious and traditional veal parmigiana or marsala grace the palate of many guests and receive excellent reviews. Because of the succulent meals including chicken, guests can indulge in pollo cacciatore, chicken and broccoli, or an original chicken piccata complete with capers, butter, and lemon. For those interested in vegetable dishes, eggplant is the perfect choice. Catarina's shares an eggplant florentine or a rolled eggplant complete with herbed ricotta and scrumptious penne pasta. At the end of a meal, be sure to leave room for the alluring tiramisu or slightly sweet cannoli.

Enjoying all the menu options is easy because Catarina's italian village, RI is located in a quaint, oversized log cabin and is sure to bring back the feeling of home. Complete with a martini bar, outdoor eating options, and an exquisite drink menu as well, Catarinas creates a welcoming ambience. Overlooking the Narragansett Bay with a sparkling view of the Newport Bridge, guests can sit back and enjoy both the view and the entrees. Enjoying dinner in the dining room, on the patio, or in the loft is sure to lift every guest's spirits.

Reasonable pricing and large parking availability ensure a quality experience at Catarina's Italian Village. Casual dress and a lively, mixed crowd make every lunch or evening complete. Whether enjoying a drink or cappuccino at the bar, or hosting a business meeting in the middle of the day, Catarina's has something for everyone. Attentive service and caring, friendly staff are sure to encourage a return visit from every guest.
