Cats Are Carnivores!

By: Charlie Board Home | Home-and-Family | Pets

If you look at your pet cat you will see that he or she has teeth that look like sharp needles. Cats also have a set of claws that are sharp enough to climb up walls and if they are not happy they can tear apart a person’s skin.

The head of your pet cat has a pair of pointed ears that are facing forward with those gorgeous colourful eyes that melt your heart. In reality, your pet cat’s ears and eyes are designed to focus on their prey, a mouse or a bird. Your beautiful cuddly pet is one of nature’s predators, a carnivore.

Thinking of your cat being a predator is not always comfortable, but a cat’s nutrition is important as they have a digestive system that is only able to digest specific foods. As a domesticated cat, your cat is not expecting you to supply him with a dead mouse for his tea, but he will respond better to his cat nutrition being as close to nature as you the owner can provide.

When choosing your pet’s cat food tinned or dry, read the labels to check if it has ingredients that will benefit your cat and help its digestive system. Your pet’s cat nutrition is dependent on you feeding him good meat. Domesticated cats’ requirements include a diet that provides them with fresh meats and supplements such as phosphorus and calcium.

At Hill Pets we place great emphasis on supplying high quality pet food for optimum cat health.
