Causes And Prevention Of Flatulence

By: Arnold Davies Home | Health-and-Fitness

Everybody has had their own share of flatulence misfortunes. Embarrassing moments are listed endlessly and most of which are actually related to sudden odor releases in the form of farting. A common example that accounts to this would be being in an elevator with only one other company and you actually gave off a blow of silent but foul-smelling carbon monoxide.

Flatulence is a problem which affects us all from time to time. In many cases, it does not cause the sufferer too much concern, but there is a spectrum of seriousness that runs all the way from light flatulence that causes more of a giggle than anything else, and flatulence that threatens your health.

If you are concerned, then the first place to look for causes of flatulence is your diet. If you are passing wind more than usual, then the chances are it is down to excess flatulence caused by what we are eating. If our usual flatulence is smellier than it would be ordinarily, then the chances are that the causes of flatulence are things that we have eaten.

Sometimes to work against flatulence, you need to cure a deeper problem. Constipation can be fixed sensibly with a better diet. Lots of fiber, even if there is an underlying cause for flatulence or constipation, will at the very least reduce the problem. Living a healthier, more active lifestyle will aid your digestion and will aid in stopping flatulence problems.

A food diary is a sound response to frequent flatulence. It may seem a little bit juvenile to keep a record of flatulence, but if you can compare the frequency of flatulence with the foods you are eating you can then see whether it is a matter that can be fixed simply by a change in diet - or a condition that may need more specific attention.

Exercise: The fact of the matter is that the body works better in every way possible when you exercise and encourage a healthy circulation and breathing rate. The better your body works the less problem it will have digesting anything you eat. Preventing flatulence is a lot easier if you get good exercise - and even a brisk walk after dinner can have results.

Avoid rich and spicy foods as they can cause indigestion resulting in the formation of excessive gas. Add moderate amounts of fiber in your diet. Excess fiber may cause indigestion with the formation of gases.

Flatulence can also be caused by swallowing too much air as you eat. To avoid this, make sure that you close your mouth when you are chewing and swallowing your food. You could also try eating slowly and making sure that you chew your food properly before swallowing.

It may be that your general digestive health is pretty good, and that certain foods are what cause the flatulence problems. If this is the case, then a dietary solution can make a fairly big difference very quickly. Flatulence relief for people who have an intolerance to a single food is often no problem.
