Causes And Treatments Of Lower Back Pain

By: Dorothy Severe Home | Health-and-Fitness

If you're experiencing low back pain, you are likely to have issues in the area that lies below the ribs and above the legs. Since your lower back carries most of your body weight, it becomes strained easily. While some people experience a dull pain, there are others who deal with extra acute lower back pain. Low back pain may be unexpected or it may develop gradually over a period of time. In some cases, it could be accompanied with muscle seizures. It could also cause a shivering feeling and numbness in the legs.

There are numerous causes of lower back pain. Spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, compression fractures, spinal defects, and over straining various muscles and ligaments are a few of the most typical factors behind the problem. Lower back agony may also be a consequence of various medical conditions. Peptic ulcers, gallbladder disease, pelvic inflammatory illness, pancreatitis and aortic aneurysm are some conditions which will trigger the difficulty.

You can take a variety of medications to treat your back agony. They include drugs that reduce pain irritation and swelling, like ibuprofen and naproxen. These drugs are typically effective when taken regularly. You may use tricyclic and tetracyclic mood suppressant drugs to treat protracted back pain. You can also take anesthetic or corticosteroid injections to dam agony sensation or reduce inflammation.

Besides these medications, there are several other cures as well that will help treat lower back pain. Spine adjustment is one such treatment. It can be performed by a chiropractor, osteopath or a physical therapy spine specialist.

Heat or cold therapy could also help lower the back agony. For heat therapy, you might use heat pads, warm packs or take shower with warm water. Heat helps the tissue stretch and therefore donates it more flexibility besides reducing the discomfort. To perform cold therapy, just wrap a piece of ice in a piece of fabric and apply on to the affected area. When you apply the cold pack, the nerve impulses slow down and thus you feel lesser pain. heat or cold packs might also be used to treat the issue. If you want to use heat therapy you can make use of heating pads or take a shower with warm water. The heat stretches the tissues that are in pain and provides relief. Cold therapy, on the other hand, numbs the nerves carrying the agony and provides relief. Wrap some ice in a towel and apply it to the area affected.

Those hunting for alternative treatments for low back trouble can also make use of acupuncture. This process involves inserting needles at select points under the supervision of an expert. Since the needles aren't inserted deep in the body, you will not have to cope with any pain. Several studies suggest that acupuncture works better than most medical treatments to reduce back discomfort.

There are several exercises as well that may help treat the problem. Here are some of them.

Pelvic Lean
Lie on your back with knees bent. Tighten your intestinal muscles so that the lower portion of your back touches the floor. Hold for 5 seconds and then relax. Repeat the process 5 times daily.

Back Stretch
Lie on your belly straight on the floor. Now with aid from your palms, try to lift your upper body. Go in for ten repetitions per day.

Knee To Chest
Lie on your back with legs straight. Move one knee up to the chest while pressing the lower back into the floor. Wait for 5 seconds and then relax. Perform the process with the other leg. Repeat the procedure five times daily.
