Causes Of Liver Failure

By: andrewsmith Home | Health-and-Fitness

There are several diseases which can cause a liver to malfunction. The causes of liver failure may be liver cell damage, obstruction to bile flow, viral hepatitis, drug induced hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer among many other.

Most causes of liver failure will be discussed below. A defective synthesis of proteins and detoxification can cause damage to the liver cells. If the liver cells are damaged, one may experience loss of appetite, occasional fever, minor abdominal pains, bleeding, and discoloration of the eyes and skin to become yellowish.

Acute or sudden liver failure can occur when certain medications or substances are ingested that are toxic to the liver including certain prescription drugs, overdoses of "Tylenol" or "acetaminophen", herbal supplements or medications, wild mushrooms that are poisonous in nature, and hepatitis - particularly when it occurs in children.

There are many symptoms of acute liver failure, such as jaundice, easy bruising or bleeding, fatigue and general deterioration of health. These can all be mistaken for other diseases and conditions so it is important to have the right diagnosis.

The end stage liver failure diagnosis comes when the doctor determines that the organ is no longer or soon will be no longer capable of carrying out its metabolic functions and producing the proteins it is supposed to synthesize. Once this stage has been reached then a liver transplant is the only option, but dialysis may also help.

Carbohydrates should also be taken in moderation. The diet must be low in saturated fats so as not to add up to the clogging of arteries and increase the amount of bad cholesterol in the body. This may make the damaged liver to work harder.

A well-balanced diet is absolutely essential for all human beings. Liver failure diet is much more important for a person who is suffering from liver disease so as to enable him to recover from the disease more quickly and more effectively.

Thus, both acute and chronic liver failure can be successfully treated by using a judicious combination of Ayurvedic medicines. Timely use of these medicines can help to prevent irreversible liver damage and complete liver failure. These medicines can therefore control liver failure and improve the chances for survival and recovery in patients affected with this condition.

It will strongly be recommended that you immediately refer to the help of the specialist so that proper laboratory tests may be done. If you are experiencing early symptoms of liver failure, they will know what to prescribe you so that the right treatment will be given to you.

It also has important endocrine functions, as well as an imunologic role among many other minor roles. When it fails, all these functions are compromised and death comes quickly. Toxic products pile up in the body and, most important, the liver will not convert fat to sugar and your brain literally starves to death.
