Ceiling fans must be fixed between seven and nine feet above the floor; higher if your have 6 footers in your home. If you have high ceilings you can use extenders which help lower the fan to the desired height. Make sure that it is at least 10 inches away from the ceiling since the blades require air to move around them if they are to provide circulation effectively.
