So why do a cellular phone number search or a search for a land line number? Even if a service like this seems like an invasion of privacy, there are good reasons for doing such a search. Just be sure that you are doing it for the right reasons. Reason #1: An unfamiliar phone number may have appeared on the phone bill and you just do not know who this number belongs to. Neither does anybody else in the house and it could be an error that needs challenging with the phone company †preferably with all available information if you are going to get that money back and avoid overpaying. Reason #2: You keep getting nuisance calls that hang up when answered and want to find out who the culprit is so that you can take further action, if you so choose. Busting a prank caller where they live will usually shock them into silence and make them accountable for their irritating tomfoolery. Reason #3: You have found an old phone number in a draw and you are dying to know who it belongs to. But you do not want to call them in case it is an awkward moment with an ex but you would still love to know. Reason #4: This is the one to be careful with. If an unfamiliar number appears on the cell or land line of your partner and he or she seems evasive, tread carefully. Doing a phone number look up could reveal a deeper lack of trust in the relationship. Doing a cellular phone number search, or landline phone number search for that matter, could violate the trust of the other person and push them away. Is it legal? Yes. Are these numbers listed in the White Pages or Yellow Pages. No. Is it free? No. But it is normally about the price of a movie ticket and the report is available in seconds.
