Chanel perfume really needs no introduction. It is the most widely recognized name in perfume and it has been around for nearly a hundred years. It is widely regarded as the best perfume a woman can dab on her wrists and anyone who says differently is a peasant. Lol... Sadly, many imitators have tried to sully the great name of Chanel by making cheap knockoffs and selling them to all those who wanted to pretend to be rich and famous. It has been especially prevalent in third world countries, such as Thailand and India, where the police do not care for trademarks as we do in America. I'm sure some of you are wondering, "What's all the fuss about?" Well it all goes back to the founder of Chanel, Coco Chanel. She had a vision of a world where women's perfumes were uplifting and uninhibited and she didn't stop until she reached that vision. She probably didn't realize how big her perfumes were going to get, but her plan was always to make a "high-society" perfume, and she succeeded. Flash forward to today, where Hollywood celebrities and famous people all over the world are wearing the Chanel perfume. They choose it because it represents status, it represents fame, it represents a person of high-society, just like Coco envisioned. But without even knowing it, these rich and famous people have given back to Chanel. By wearing Chanel, they are providing a source of free advertising that has spiked the sales of Chanel even higher. Women will eagerly buy it after learning Nicole Kidman wears it, or Paris Hilton, or any famous woman really. Of course it helps to have a hundred years to tweak your marketing plan, and that's an area Chanel is not weak in. They have kept an edge on the marketing campaign, such as hiring Nicole Kidman to be the face of Chanel and producing an advertising film starring the actress. They are on top of their game and their profit margin reflects their great successes. Perhaps the most recognized perfume in the Chanel line, Chanel No. 5 was actually developed by Ernest Beaux. To make this enticing fragrance concoction, he stirred in rose, jasmine, and neroli, along with ylang-ylang. While the exact blend is not known by anyone outside the company, everyone of us knows it is definitely a good blend. It was once believed that a bottle of Chanel No. 5 sold every thirty seconds, somewhere throughout the world. Believe it or don't, but I'll tell you that Chanel is definitely not hurting financially. A 1.7 oz bottle of Chanel No. 5 will run you about $80 if you buy from a department store, but search around and you'll get a 2.5 oz for the same price. Chanel is the way to let the world know you have arrived, so if you want to move up the ranks in to high-society, grab a bottle of Chanel No. 5.
