Charity & Auctions- Do They Go Hand In Hand?

By: Christopher Watson Home | Business

Charity is the practice of benevolent giving to the needy ones.

All Charities are non-profit organizations, but non-profit organizations that are only dedicated to charitable purposes, are sometimes treated as charities.

An auction is a process of buying and selling goods by offering them up for bid and selling the item to the winning bidder. Not necessarily, all participants know each other’s identity or action in an auction. Bidder may participate in person, or through telephone or online.

Charity and auction have been there together for a long time. And now internet has created a new convenient way for conducting charity auctions. In a charity auction, a list of items, which are going for bidding, with their market value is given to the people present there. When a donor pays an amount, which is more than the published value, the difference between the amount paid and the published value goes for a charitable fund. Charity auctions are conducted to raise money for charitable purposes like disaster relief, treatment of diseases, social causes, providing assistance for educational institutions etc. Millions of people are benefited through charity auctions around the world.

The difference between charity auction and other kind of auction is the goal of the auction. The only purpose of charity auction is to raise money, where as in other auctions, the aim is to clear the stuff. In a charity auction, people are encouraged to bid higher than they normally do, because here, the proceeds are going for a good cause. There are also people, who provide goods for charities to sell them in an auction to raise money for different causes. You can get tax benefits by purchasing items in a charity auction.

Many websites conduct charity auctions online. You can get extensive information regarding the procedure of charity auction, once you visit those sites.
