Cheap Ink Cartridges - Smart Ways To Buy Replacement Printer Ink

By: Michiel Van Kets Home | Shopping-and-Products

Inkjet printers have undergone a boom in recent years. The main driving force for their popularity has been the rise of digital photography and the development of all-in-one units that bundle a printer, scanner and copier into one compact, inexpensive unit. These innovations plus a fall in price and rise in quality has led to a massive uptake of inkjet printers both for office and home use.

The rise in digital photography has meant that ordinary people with home computers now own their own digital darkroom. With easy to use free software from the camera manufacturers, user can make their own home prints instantly and cheaply and with a quality that matches those of commercial photography shops.

The development of cheap all-in-one printers has meant that every small business now has access to printing, copying and scanning facilities. These handy machines have become a mainstay in most offices owing to their cheapness and versatility.

Most users, both home and commercial, are delighted with their inkjet printer. They're easy to use and provide the kind of crisp text and vivid colours that were once the sole preserve of commercial printing houses. However the day soon arrives when many users begin to question their use of inkjet printers.

That day is when the ink in the printer cartridge runs out and they discover the price of buying replacement printer ink. Often the cost buying the one new black and white and the one new colour cartridge approaches the cost paid for the printer itself. Disenchantment quickly sets in. Home users become more selective about what photographs they prints and office managers fret about their budget for office supplies.

If this is you, you'll be pleased to know that it doesn't have to be this way. Here's a look at some ways to buy cheap ink cartridges.

Firstly, you need to know that not all printer cartridges are equal so let's look at the types of available.

The first type are the ones manufactured by the printer manufacturers themselves. These are known as OEM (original equipment manufacturer) or original printer cartridges. They're easily recognisable by the design of the packing as the manufacturer's logo will be on the box. They're also recognisable by the price tag. OEM printer cartridges sell at premium prices. They're manufactured to the highest quality standards both in terms of the mechanics of the cartridge and the ink inside. If you buy, say, Canon inkjet cartridges, you're going to get a top quality product that will never let you down.

The next type of inkjet replacement cartridges you can buy are compatible ink cartridges. These are brand new like the original ones but are manufactured by third party companies. If you're looking to buy, say, cheap Epson ink, compatible ink cartridges would be a good option. They're generally made to a high standard following the original manufacturer's standards but at prices far cheaper than the OEM.

Next, you can get remanufactured inkjet cartridge. These are old cartridges that have been refilled. These are cheaper than the first two options but you're taking a chance with these. Cheap printer cartridges doesn’t mean good printer cartridges.

A final option is to refill your cartridges yourself. This is the cheapest way to do things but is very messy. More importantly, you'll be filling your cartridges with generic ink which may not give good results and could clog up your printer or worse.

Which type of replacement printer cartridge you choose to buy depends on your needs. If you need the highest quality and reliability you should get the original cartridges. Otherwise, compatible inkjet cartridges should be fine for normal use.

One thing to bear in mind is that be aware that some manufacturers patent their cartridge design and don't allow other firms to produce them. This means you're unlikely to find compatible inkjet cartridges for these models of inkjet printer.

Even if you decide to buy OEM in cartridges, there are ways to save money. The most important thing to do is to order your cartridges online. Online vendors can offer prices that high street suppliers can't match and most offer next day delivery to the UK mainland.

For the best and cheapest supplies of replacement ink cartridge needs including Canon inkjet cartridges, Brother ink cartridges, and cheap Epson ink check online.
