Chicago is the largest city in the state American State of Illinois. Currently the city has grossed over 2.8 million residents by the last official consciences. Chicago has been also been declared as the most populated city in the Midwestern area of United States and it has the honor of being the third most populated city in the whole country of united states. Its famous metropolitan area is commonly termed as "Chicagoland," and has been declared as the 26th most populous commercial areas in the world, home to an estimated 9.7 million people spread across the U.S. states of Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Chicago is the county seat of Cook County.

Chicago’s origins date back to the historic time of colonial rule to year of 1833. The first settlement was near a small port between the Great American Lakes and the area covered by the Mississippi River watershed. During the modern age of transportation revolution, the city has successfully retained its status as a major hub in the highly populated city of Chicago, both for industrial and infrastructure sector of the economy, Chicago’s main airport, International Airport has the crown of being the second busiest airport in the world. In historic year of 2008, the city hosted 45.6 million domestic and overseas visitors. Chicago's metropolitan area has the 4th largest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of all metropolitan areas in the world. It’s GDP has over taken a large number of small scale countries in the economic run over the past decade.

The grand city of Chicago has seen many phases of evolutions during the recent decades and have developed itself into a major a center for business and finance. It is listed as one of the world's top ten Global Financial Centers. The World Cities Study Group at Loughborough University rated Chicago as an alpha world city due to Chicago's important role in the global economic system. The residents of Chicago can proudly admit that the titles granted to the city has been successfully full filled the titles provided to the city. In a 2010 survey collaboration between Foreign Policy and A.T Kearney ranking the world's top global cities, Chicago ranked 6th just after Paris and Hong Kong and just above Los Angeles and Singapore. The ranking assesses five dimensions of traditional measurements of traditional criteria of full filling the requirements of being a super city: value of capital markets, diversity of human capital, international information resources, international cultural resources, and political influence. Chicago is a major key stronghold of the Democratic Party and has been home to many influential politicians, including the current President of the United States, Barack Obama. Who has gained world wide importance due the successful representation of blacks at a very high scale. Globally recognized Chicago has numerous nicknames, which reflect the impressions and opinions about historical and contemporary Chicago. The best known include: "Chi-town," "Windy City," "Second City," and the "City of Big Shoulders. Chicago has also been called "the most American of big cities.
