Pink is the colour of love. Pink is the colour of affection. You can like it, or be indifferent towards it, but you simply cannot ignore it. What better way is there to demonstrate your affection for and the friendship you feel towards someone than to buy them a pink camera? Loved by girls of all ages and the icon colour of the gay community, pink is the new black. So you want to buy a pink camera for yourself or a loved one. There are so many to choose from - where on earth would you start? First you need to find out about megapixels and stuff like that. Basically the more megapixels you have then the higher the resolution - what this really means is that you can print bigger and better pictures. But this is not a fixed rule. What happens as you try and fit more and more pixels into a camera is that they get a little too tightly packed together and generate a lot of noise. Not stuff you can hear, but noise in the context of a camera image can be seen as randomly coloured dots in the picture. The image breaks down a little and loses some quality. This problem increases as the light levels drop - the automatic camera will increase the ISO - that is the film sensitivity - and this itself also leads to more noise. What noise does is make your photo look gritty and grainy. So getting the best image is a bit of a balancing act and as in many things today, a compromise is needed. In a compact camera - which most pink ones are - it is quite pointless going much above 12 megapixels. In fact, if you only want to post pictures on your blog or for social networking, then a 4-6 megapixel camera will be fine. But 12 megapixels will give you more flexibility with printing allowing you larger print sizes, you should be able to print around A3 size for that special picture. And of course, double the megapixels does not give you twice the resolution - in other words you cannot print a picture which is twice as wide and expect it to look as good. To get double the resolution of a 6 megapixel camera you would need 24 megapixels - that is a bit of a tall order! What this means is that actually choosing a good compact pink camera is really quite easy. When you look at most models from the main manufacturers they are so close in quality that the majority of people would be quite happy with their purchase. The important thing is that you are happy with the size and general ergonomics of the camera. Do you like the design, will it fit in your pocket? Unless you are a pro you will be happy with most of the models on offer today.
