Chronic Pain Treatment

By: johancade Home | Health-and-Fitness

Personal injury lawyers for plaintiffs who suffer from chronic pain or fibromyalgia have been forced to develop and implement legal strategies to tackle the challenge of representing men and women who experience pain, often extreme pain, when the basis for their pain experience cannot be proven by an objective test such as an x-ray. It is believed that in cases where the nociceptive pain is prolonged, with no clear resolution or outcome, it may evolve or progress into neuropathic pain. It is not uncommon for a patient to have a constellation of conditions in which both categories, both classifications of pain are present.

These medications include antidepressants, corticosteroids and muscle relaxants. These drugs will work sometimes in the short term for bringing chronic back pain relief under control, but there are serious side effects if they are used for long periods of time for chronic pain relief. Due to these side effects, it is a good idea to find other methods of pain relief wile reducing the frequency of the prescription drugs. As you feel your pain you can journal the following: your physical feelings, any emotions that arise, and thoughts or beliefs that you find with your discomfort.

Chronic pain results in depletion of Serotonin from the neuronal cells leading to an aggravation of depression. In fact many physicians treat chronic pain with the same drugs used to treat depression. Chronic pain sufferers respond with increased pain to stressful stimuli. Most people in pain, including those with chronic symptoms, go to primary care providers to get relief. But current systems of care do not adequately train or support internists, family physicians and pediatricians, the other health care providers who provide primary care in meeting the challenge of treating pain as a chronic illness.

The pain generating stimulus must be interrupted until the memory in the nerve cells has been forgotten. For many chronic pain cases, deep tissue therapy a few times every week can help these hyperexcited receptors feeding the central nervous system to quiet down and the sensation of pain to dissipate and even disappear. It involves training the patient to enhance his flexibility, endurance, and strength; to move in a way that is structurally correct and safe; and most importantly to handle pain. Therapeutic exercise is an important feature of physical therapy.

RA is an inflammatory disease both chronic and systemic (widespread) in nature. The disease may express with a myriad of symptoms, and they may range from mild stiffness and discomfort, to chronic, systemic and even acute pain. It is not unusual in the latter stages of the disease for RA patients to be completely disabled. As well the signals of pain becoming more intense, at the same time your brain becomes more sensitive to these signals. This means that your pain may feel like it is getting worse, even though the injury that originally caused it is not getting any worse, or may in fact be healing. In the non-LTD context, some of the most challenging cases to prove causation are those where the plaintiff already had a history of medical complaints prior to the accident giving rise to the lawsuit.
