Clean Mold In Bathroom

By: Callum Boase Home | Home-and-Family | Home-Improvement

Mold and mildew are types of fungi that develop in damp and hot conditions. They may be recognized by their color: often tones of pink, black or brown, covering some area of your bathroom.

Mold can be a problem due to health reasons, as well as for aesthetic reasons. Also, if you have a substantial amount of bathroom mold, your bathroom will smell damp and musty. Furthermore, if you have bathroom mold, it can spread to all areas of the bathroom, as well as your clothes and other areas of the house. If your bathroom is moldy, you will need to know how to clean it. Here's some tips to make your job as easy as possible.

How To Clean Mold in Bathroom
Mildew grows fastest inside the shower area as well as in the bathtub. This is not simply because of the humid environment, but due to dirt that accumulates in these areas each time you use them. Oil from hair and the body as well as dried soap feeds the development.

Thus, the most effective way to clean mold in bathrooms, and stop it growing back, is to frequently clean these areas using your preferred cleaning product, whether it be a specialized cleaner, or a multi-purpose cleaner. Remember to dry the area after you have cleaned it.

A great product to remove mold is bleach combined with drinking water. Mix equal parts bleach and water. Spray this mixture onto the surfaces and leave it to soak in for 5 minutes. This will help you get rid of mold that may have built up and should be relatively easy.

Remember, however, that the only way to stop the mold regrowing is to regularly clean the areas once you have removed the problem spots of mildew.

Alternatively, vinegar may help you kill any problem mold areas. It should also help get rid of any musty or sour smell the mold leaves behind. The fact that it is acidic should also help prevent any bathroom mold growing again.

How to Stop Mold Growing Back
Mold forms due to poor flow of fresh air, low light, heat and humidity. To prevent the regrowth of mold in bathrooms, you can improve these factors.

Open any curtains or blinds in the bathroom to give better light, or leave the door open to let light in. Open any windows and leave the bathroom fan on to help dry the bathroom out and keep it cooler and encourage circulation. All these actions, coupled with regular cleaning, should help you prevent any further mold growth in your bathroom!
