Cleaning Marble Fireplaces To Maintain The Beauty Of Your Floors

Cheerfully burning fire in a rustic traditional marble fireplace presents a pleasant picture tempting anyone to return home and enjoy a cozy evening. While ornate marble fireplaces are a treat for any home, cleaning marble fireplaces can be a daunting yet a necessary task to maintain its splendor.

These days most of these beautiful marble places are increasingly being used not for warming the houses but as a part of your home decor. But if you are still from the old school of thoughts who believe that nothing can beat the warmth provided by the woods sizzling in the fireplace then there are some extra tasks which you need to perform in order to preserve the beauty and the utility of these beautiful marble fireplaces.

First thing first, the soot and the smoke generated while burning woods in the fireplace can cause a lot of damage to the marble. Therefore first step towards cleaning marble fireplaces should be to the regular removal of soot and dust from your marble fireplace by using a solution of trisodium phosphate. Use a good brush to scrub off all the traces of soot that may otherwise stain your beautiful marble. Also for the safety of your hands it is always advisable to wear a good quality rubber gloves while starting with the cleaning routine. Also don"€™t forget to wipe dry the entire surface once you are done with the cleaning.

Another useful tip for removing the smoke stains from your beautiful marble fireplace is by cleaning marble fireplaces by using a paste of baking soda which may be slightly abrasive. So don"€™t leave this paste on your marble surface for too long and gently wipe it off using a damp cotton cloth followed by a dry linen towel. A new alternative could be to use a solution of 1 part of hydrogen peroxide which has been diluted in 3 parts of water.
While, cleaning marble fireplaces, avoid using any acidic mixture like lime juice or vinegar, as they may actually, corrode the marble fireplace instead of cleaning it.

While clean marble fireplaces you should first wet the stained surface using a soft damp cotton cloth that will prevent the soot or dust from penetrating inside the marble. Then apply either of the above solutions for cleaning the surface and wrap up the cleaning process by wiping the surface dry using again a soft towel.
