In different archaeological digs evidences have been found of different types of cosmetics that date back to the Ancient Egypt, more or less in 4000 B.C.; as for what the excavations show, anyway, not only the ancient Egyptians, but also the Sumerians, as the little statues found in the ancient Ur demonstrate, the ancient Greeks and the Romans. The following populations, in almost all the periods until 1800, made a large use of cosmetics, excluding only the poorest social stratums; then, cosmetics went through a period of open and decided denial during queen Victoria’s reign, in XIX century, because it was considered an impoliteness. After that period, anyway, the makeup returned to its precedent use and, excluding a brief period during the Nazi era, never left its position again, though it changed according to the various fashions and periods. Nowadays the make-up is very used and varies according not only to the personal preferences and of the fashions, but even according to the occasions: the bride makeup, for example, is surely different from the everyday’s makeup, as well as from the kind of cosmetics used for other occasions. After all, the aim is always that of looking more beautiful, following the models of beauty of the moment: the skills of those who make themselves up, or of the makeup artists, are evident when they catch the details that should be pointed out because they are particularly beautiful, and at the same time make the defects less evident, that can be peculiar physical conformations or even unmissable misfortunes: little passing imperfections always arrive in the most inopportune moment. Today make-up actually became a profession: thanks to their everyday’s experience, the make-up artists can catch at first sight the fundamental details of the faces of the people. The occasions to go to a make-up artist are the most varied, from weddings to photographical makeup, from personal important occasions to working happenings...and for every situation the professionals, that you will have to choose among a long list, will be able to choose the most suitable style to notice point out, improve. Talking about makeup, then, you include various things, starting from hands and feet, hence manicure, pedicure and nail polish, that like anything else follows different fashions and tendencies, and arriving to the face makeup, that gives the first impression and then is followed by the overview, accompanied by all the various, and perfectly studied, details.
