Colon Cleanse Side Effects - 3 Common Colon Cleanse Side Effects

By: Michelle Taft Home | Health-and-Fitness | Alternative-Medicine

People do not usually think of it as such, but colon cleansing is a medical procedure and as such there can be colon cleanse side effects that you should be aware of. The side effects are generally mild and not something to be alarmed over and most people will not feel them at all.

The most common colon cleanse side effects include a need to urgently go to the bathroom. This usually passes within the first day or so, but it can be difficult to deal with if it happens to you. For this reason many people choose to begin a colon cleanse program on the weekend. This will allow you to be at home, and near a bathroom, should the urge come upon you suddenly.

Another of the more common colon cleanse side effects is hunger. This is due, in part, to the fact that many colon cleansing systems ask that you alter your dietary habits while undergoing the cleanse. This is normal and will pass quickly. In fact it is a good idea to stay on the modified diet even after the colon cleanse is completed.

One of the side effect people have from a colon cleansing system is abdominal discomfort. This is actually normal and can even be a good thing. The waste material in your colon has hardened and become stuck. As the colon is cleansed this waste is removed and cause mild cramping and other abdominal discomfort. This will quickly pass as your colon is cleansed.

Other side effects include headache and fatigue. These are also normal and will pass as the toxins are removed from your colon.

It is important to remember that most people feel no colon cleanse side effects whatsoever. Those that do will likely only feel them for a day or so as their body adjusts to the colon cleansing agent. All medications have side effects, but most people will never experience them.
