Compare The Directv Nfl Sunday Ticket To Dish Network Nfl Network Red Zone

By: Frank R. Bilotta Home | Recreation-and-Sports | Football

As A new subscriber of DirecTV I was very excited for the NFL Football Season to begin and begin my Nfl Sunday Ticket. I have the opportunity to watch every football game available and can track my Fantasy Football team Players live. My question now is with the emergence of the NFL Network's Red Zone Channel - Do I really have the need to watch every football game or just the highlights? Let's compare these options. Let's take a look at fans of out of market teams. I am a New Orleans Saints Fan. As I live in New England the local team here is the New England Patriots. I am aware I am in the minority. The Saints will be televised between 5 and 7 times nationally this year in addition to when they play New England, which will be broadcast locally.

This leaves approximately 9 games. With the Sunday Ticket priced at $300 that would be approximately 35 dollars per game to see the remainder...almost the price of a ticket to see them live if I lived in New Orleans. So as a fan of a Team not designated in my area I would lean towards the NFL Network in this scenario. Now let's take a look at tracking your Fantasy Football Team. Last year as Sundays Games developed I found myself online in front of the computer receiving updates through the NFL Red Zone tracker. I received up to the minute stats on all my players with the click of a mouse. With the red zone it became very exciting as I wondered if my player would earn me six points or my defense would hold up.

I did spend endless minutes waiting for a screen to refresh as I looked at what would appear to be the visual affects of an Atari2600 video game. Red Zone offenses and defenses, with the exception of a game's last two minutes, are the most exciting of any given Sunday. Sure after the results you have the celebrations, but to see a team make it or break it inside the 20-yard line is the true definition of football. With those images now shown live every time a team approaches the goal line I feel I will achieve pure football ecstasy every Sunday. This Time I will have a 42-inch TV, HD, and surround sound. I will have the ability to watch my player or my oppositions perform in the Red Zone. During Games televised (regardless of the channel) we have tickers at the bottom of every screen, we have game breaks, and we have highlight shows at halftime and for an hour following the game. ESPN constantly airs the NFL's highlights all day and all night.

For me this is more than enough information to track my fantasy team and players. I see no advantage of the NFL Sunday Ticket. So, when all is said and done what we are left with is every football game available. Barring those broadcast on National TV. You only really have the ability to watch two games at a time. There is no way to watch all of them. Even if you watched one and Record one with a DVR (between the hours of 1 to 4 and 4 to 8), this only leaves a total of two extra games you are watching weekly. 8PM Sunday Night Games, Monday, and Thursday are televised nationally. I can't see the ability of watching an additional 6 games during this time frame being an advantage to any of the previous arguments. That is what you have when it all comes down to it, is the ability to watch all games.
