Considerations In Installing A Kitchen Countertop

By: yanita Home | Home-and-Family | Home-Improvement

Installing a kitchen countertop, whether it’s marble kitchen countertops or granite kitchen countertops, is not that difficult so long as one has the tools and know-how. It can be a do-it-yourself operation if you have enough confidence in your skills and the right tools and materials for the project. Here is a rough outline on how the installation of kitchen countertops would go.

First, you need to make sure you have the tools and materials ready for your kitchen counter tops installation. If you’re installing a kitchen granite countertop, you must have the granite stone slab ready. Then for your tools, you would need a tape measure, end splash, end cap, belt sander, smooth file, wrenches, hand laminate trimmer, handsaw, jigsaw and blades, sealant, caulking gun, hammer, screws and glue.

Next, you have to prepare the area. You need to turn off all the water valves, clean the area, remove the sink and current kitchen counters, and make measurements. Then you have to cut the slab to the right size using your cutting tools like the hand saw or jigsaw. Then you have to glue wood strips at the back of the stone counter to serve as a base. Then place the counter on top. Then you have to smoothen the ends and apply laminate on it. Afterwards, you have to secure the installation with the sealant and the screws or bolts. Then, you just have to trace your way back and re-install the fixtures and appliances that were present before the installation.

If the process seems complicated to you and you can’t handle the installation by yourself, you can always let the pros do it for you. When it comes to a counter top kitchen California has a lot of kitchen countertop installation firms that can lend you a hand. If you are letting a pro handle the installation, you need to consider that in your budget as it will cost more. But even so, you are assured that it will be done correctly, and usually, there is a warranty included in the installation. As these businesses rely on word-of-mouth and reputation for the promotion of their business, most of the times they strive to do a good job at their projects. And should things go wrong, these companies are always willing to make things right and keep their customers satisfied with the level of service that they provide.
