Coping With An Anxiety Panic Attack

How do you know if you're having an anxiety panic attack? Suffering from two or more of the following symptoms could mean you're suffering from an anxiety disorder:

-Psychological tension and frequent thoughts of worry.
-Inability or difficulty in carrying out everyday tasks
-Obsessive thoughts of irrational fear.
-Acknowledgment that certain places and situations elevate anxiety symptoms.
-Nausea, stomach upset and difficulty breathing.
-Dread and anticipation of bad things happening.

Too much stress in one's life can cause psychological disorders such as anxiety disorder. It's not unusual for people to experience bouts of anxiety when they are stressed but prolonged anxiety and stress is unhealthy.

Anxiety disorders can develop in childhood or adulthood. People who have poor self-esteem or a poor self image are more likely to suffer from mental illnesses. They can also be inherited and be passed on down through generations.

Anxiety disorders encompass a range of specific disorders which each have their own characteristics; these include GAD, OCD and PTSD. Links between anxiety disorders and other mental illnesses have been recognized.

Depression often develops in sufferers making their condition more difficult to treat. In these cases it's important to treat both mental illnesses. If you think that you're suffering from an anxiety disorder or depression, seek help from a doctor.

Since anxiety disorders encompass a range of mental disorders, there are a wide range of possible symptoms. Symptoms are not always easily diagnosed since anxiety disorders and other mental illnesses share the same symptoms.

Diagnosis can be difficult for a doctor especially when a patient complains of general symptoms such as headaches, muscle tension and fatigue. A qualified practitioner in mental health is worth seeing if you are unable to get a diagnosis from your doctor.

Although medication is often prescribed for anxiety disorders, there are drug-free alternatives to consider too. In addition, herbal supplements may also be considered as an alternative for those who want to avoid medication.

Most mental health therapists believe that self-help is the most effective solution. Changes in the subconscious of the mind can improve mental health. It's in the subconscious part of the mind that controls our fear, stress and anxiety.

Alternative therapies such as CBT and hypnosis can greatly reduce the symptoms of anxiety. Even taking the time to really relax and let go can make positive changes. Controlling stress levels is essential for overall health.

The practice of yoga and meditation are excellent ways to reduce stress. Cycling and swimming are great ways to let go of tension and stress. You can learn to control an anxiety panic attack by using distraction or breathing techniques.
