A council has been fined '10,250 for injury compensation after an accident claim was filed against them, after staff had made complaints about a health and safety risk. It has emerged that a woman, 41, who was employed by the council, sustained injuries to her back and continues to suffer with severe back pain as a result of the accident at work, that occurred 2 years ago. According to reports, the woman was putting away some money in the council safe when the accident at work occurred. The report shows that other employees had previously complained numerous times to their employer about the position in which the safe was located. Anyone wanting to use the safe had to kneel down to access it. The injured woman has commented on her accident at work and said: â'We had complained time and again about the safe. It was awkward to get into and should have been moved long before I had the accident. Fortunately, since pursuing my claim the safe has now been movedâ' . The woman's injury solicitor stated: â'Back injuries can be painful and disabling. There is no limit to the number of ways they can occur. A simple risk assessment would have made clear the health and safety problems connected with the safeâ'â"s location.â' If you have been involved in an accident at work and would like to claim for any injures that you have sustained, then contact us here at Accident Advice Bureau and we can assist you with your claim.
