Create Your Own Bastille Day Celebration

french flag Not everyone has the luxury to travel to France for Bastille Day, but that doesn't mean you can't celebrate the French version of Independence Day right from your home town. Here are some ideas to get you started:


Check your local paper for French events. Many of the larger cities in the United States have cultural centers which plan Bastille Day events.
You can go to a French restaurant. Just about any French restaurant is sure to be honoring Bastille Day.
Throw a Bastille Day party at home. Grab some wine, cheese, crackers, and a few friends, and have your own tres francais party.

Create a gourmet French meal, complete with French wine. You might consider featuring champagne toasts, truffles, and bistro fare. Of course, you'll want to top off any celebration with chocolate! Here are some delicious French recipes contributed by Harmony Sweets visitors that you can try:
