Creative Ideas For Wooden Frames

By: Mark Etinger Home | Home-and-Family

When you purchase wooden frames, the ideal usage is to put in a photograph of family or friends. I'm sure you have dozens of wooden frames all over the house displaying your memories. But there are way more creative ideas for that frame. Wooden frames are not very expensive and they can be a budget friendly item that brings beautiful art and design into your home.

One common way to put those frames to good use is to create your own artwork. Purchasing artwork can be a pricey endeavor, but you can create your own, even if you don't consider yourself that imaginative. You can turn magazine pictures or photographs found online into art. Have a nice picture of a sunset? Put the picture in Photoshop and play around with the coloring -instant artwork! Have tons of postcards from all the places you visited? Put them in frames and make a collage on the wall.

Another artistic option is to put a patterned material in the frame. Take a leftover piece of wallpaper from a different room, an old fabric sample, or even a piece of mosaic tile from the kitchen backsplash. You can make some 3-D art by taking seashells from a vacation, or from a craft store, and gluing them to a piece of cardboard. However, make sure you completely cover the cardboard so it won't be seen.

Turn large picture frames into mirrors. Just find the appropriate size glass and you have your own unique mirror for any room. You can also put a piece of corkboard in the frame and remove the glass cover, creating a bulletin board or a turn it into a collage. Pin up concert tickets, postcards, or any other pieces of memorabilia. This is a great idea for kids rooms. Kids tend to accumulate a lot of "stuff," so this can be a fun and creative little project for them. They can continue to add items over the years and see what their collage turns into ten years down the road.

You might think your only options are to hang wooden frames on the wall or to have them resting on a table. However, you can take that newly created piece of artwork and create your own refrigerator magnets. Just glue some magnetic strips to the back of the frame. Not everything has to be artistic though. Frames can be functional too. Put a colored piece of paper in a wooden frame and turn it into a vanity tray for your perfumes and brushes. Another idea is to use the frame as a key holder. Take away the glass and use a piece of colored material instead. Then glue your hooks and presto! You have a beautiful framed key holder.

With so many great ideas, you'll be stocking up on tons of beautiful wall picture frames to use in various way around the home. With a little imagination, you can frame just about anything!
