Blog or Website

If you are new to the internet you might not be aware of a recent evolution that has taken place, which are blogs. Blogs are simply websites where people record there thoughts in writing or video on a regular basis.

Blogs have certain advantages and disadvantages when compared to a normal website. The first benefit is that they are easy to update and the new material is usually added at the top of your homepage. The second plus is that the search engines presently rank blogs high in there search rankings due to the fact they are refreshed regularly and this usually will result in higher rankings and more traffic.

The main disadvantage of a blog is that the software used to create them; WordPress is not as flexible as the standard website software which is DreamWeaver. Standard websites offer greater design options, but they are not as easy to update and usually take longer to rank high in the search engines.

All Websites Require the Following

A)Logo: A logo is a striking design feature or emblem that is frequently utilized by a business to assist and endorse immediate public acknowledgment.

B)Header: This portion of your website appears at the top of the page and is usually where your logo is placed as well as some other craftily created elements.

C)Menu: This is usually place right below the header, but can also be situated on the left or right hand side of your site. This is what the visitors will use to navigate your site with.

D)Website Body: This is where most of your material will appear and is usually two or three columns wide.

E)Footer: This appears at the bottom of your website and typically has a navigation menu in it.

F)Other Options: If all of the above was not complicated enough for a first timer; there are many other choices and attributes that need to be pondered. These include the following, but is not limited to only these examples; color selections, email, opt-in boxes, advertisements (such as Google Absence or banner display ads), disclaimer and privacy policies.

It is all About the Traffic

You have finally finished your website and are now waiting for the money to start pouring in. Only one thing is missing; which is the traffic or visitors to your website specifically interested in the product or service you are providing.

The are two principle ways of obtaining the visitors you require, and of course; like everything else in life each one of these alternatives has there plusses and minuses. The techniques used to acquire visitors are advertising and search engine optimization (SEO).

The internet offers almost an endless supply of advertising alternatives. These include pay per click (PPC), pay per view (PPV), banner ads, or large scale media buys.

The principle benefits of advertising is that you are able to target individuals interested in what you are promoting and you are able to receive traffic virtually immediately after your website is completed. The disadvantages are the traffic will cease once you stop advertising and you will need to invest funds over time to determine what type of advertising works for your product or service until you finally find the combination that performs the best for your site.

SEO is a little more complicated than advertising and it will usually take longer before you see substantial visitors, in addition it could turn out to be just as costly. SEO today consist of updating your site constantly with new material, such as articles or videos.

It also requires building large numbers of back-links from respected sites that are relevant to your website. The principle benefit of SEO is that once you are able to gain the traffic utilizing this approach it is usually sustainable as long as you continue to build back-links and update your site.
