Cruise Ships And Security Cameras

By: Israa Sabha Home | Computers-and-Technology

Cruise ship is like little town; it has shops, entertainment areas, restaurants, sleeping quarters and much more. But unlike a regular small town, a cruise ship is floating in the middle of the ocean, and easily accessed by anyone from any country. With this in mind, there are lots to think about when purchasing a surveillance system for a cruise ship.
Cruise ship is like a little town; it has shops, entertainment areas, restaurants, sleeping quarters and much more. Nevertheless, unlike a regular small town, a cruise ship is floating in the middle of the ocean, and easily accessed by anyone from any country, thus having this in mind, lead us to think about when purchasing a surveillance system for a cruise ship.

Once you decided to purchase a surveillance camera system for your cruise ship, there are few things you need to keep in mind as you work to place the system. What kind of security does your ship already offer? If you have security guards monitoring an area, adding cameras could end up being redundant. A more cost-effective measure would be to put cameras where human naked eyes cannot always be present first. In addition, if you have a casino on your ship or any other type of area where large amounts of money are frequently handled, you will need to be sure that cameras are keeping watch over that area as much as possible.

If you are a cruise ship owner, ask yourself these questions then:
â€What sort of resolution do you need? Do you want to catch a person's face for instance? detail you are hoping to capture will determining the quality of used cameras, and the place you want to install them in highly depends on how much details you need and where your camera will need to be placed.
â€What is the lighting like? Are you putting your camera in a well-lit area or is the lighting poor? Maybe the area is outdoors and lighting is unpredictable. In this case, you may need an infrared or low light camera that has a back light compensation feature, so you guarantee the moderate day light and the properly lit night .
â€How much are you willing to spend? You probably have a budget that is okay, but keep in mind the more you are willing to spend, the better camera system you'll get. Also, keep in mind that any camera, even a relatively inexpensive one, is better than no camera at all.
â€Are there areas on your ship where cameras left and could easily be tampered with or vandalized? You will have to make sure that your cameras are as tamper-proof as possible. Finally, be aware of your passengers' privacy. Never place cameras in bathrooms, bedrooms, and other areas where privacy can be a concern.
â€Look at your floor plan. How far do you need your camera to be able cover? You want to put your camera as close to your target surveillance area as possible. This will then determine how much zoom you need in your lens: 4mm, 8mm, 12mm, or something more.

Why Security Cameras are good in Cruise Ships?
â€Monitoring Your Staff: A cruise ship is so large, employees are all over the ship, so you cannot be everywhere to keep an eye on them. Therefore, a security camera system can do that for you, and allow you to view your employees from one remote location.

â€Preventing crime and providing proofs: in case a crime took a place on a cruise ship, security cameras can provide monumental evidence in court. Not only that, but if someone is injured or there is any type of accidents that may lead to a lawsuit, visual images can save millions of dollars in damages fees. Security cameras can be helpful to authorities in solving crimes, and a criminal is less likely to commit a crime when he or she knows they are being watching.
