The result in these cases is often reduced performance or life if you use a standard supply. To avoid those problems you may determine that a custom unit is the best match. Among the many conditions that may require units that perform outside of the typical range are environments with extreme heat. In other cases there may be dramatic or consistent vibration. There are housing and supply technologies that can be applied to these problems. The result is a device that can perform at the level that you need in the conditions that you have to deal with for the full lifetime of the unit.
