Damage To Your Home From Cigarette Smoke

By: Aydan Corkern Home |

Have you ever gone to repaint a room and found a sticky brown coloring on your walls? If you have this, it is caused by cigar and cigarette smoke that will mix into the moisture that collects on your walls near the ceilings. When you go to clean up your kitchen and repaint these walls, you will find a really sticky mess that will come from not only cigarette smoke but also from the hot grease that can be sent through your air by the moisture of whatever you are cooking.

The smoke, grease, and moisture will cause damage to your walls and paint by causing them to turn this ugly color and make you have to repaint more often than usual. To help in the stopping of this problem, you can either quit smoking or put rules in force that makes anyone who smokes to go outside. You can also tell them that they can only smoke in one certain place, but since smoke travels this is usually impossible to do.

You can usually remove this discoloration by using good soapy water and a lot of towels to hand clean the walls and ceilings because this will keep you from having to repaint so often. You will need to have this water as hot as you can stand and rubber gloves as some of this damage can be really sticky, and you will need to have a chemical cleaner to help in the removal of this sticky mess. If the damage has time to set for too long, it will cause a permanent discoloration to your walls that the only way is to repaint.

If you have been able to make your smokers go outside to smoke, it will save you from the costs of repainting by yourself or having to bring in professional painters to come in and do the job for you. Also, this smoke will land on your lampshades so you would have to throw them out and replace them. It can also get into your electronic devices and cause them to start to malfunction. With having your smokers going outside the home, you can save yourself some money that you can put on your other bills.

If you are able to quit smoking altogether, you can save some extra money to buy other things and save your health as well with also making your food tasting a lot better.
