What does one do with a luxury vehicle that just isn’t connecting with customers? Well, if one is Mercedes-Benz, one redesigns said vehicle to resemble some tried and true models. Let’s hope it works so this awesome model will stick around. Darien Mercedes-Benz ML350 dealers hope so too. The Mercedes-Benz R-Class was already a sharp-looking ride, an SUV, which will now more resemble a mini van, was introduced in 2006 but has not been a popular seller. The price tag of about $50,000 is a deterrent for some, but for those shopping in the luxury market a consideration of this model would be in order. Not only is the R-Class easy to look at, and the new model will be even sleeker, it has the versatility of an SUV. So the front end will look much different but it will still resemble the crossover that it is deep down. Darien used Mercedes customers will love the new look. So call it what you like †crossover, SUV †it really doesn’t change the fact that this is a vehicle worth driving. It also has an efficient and versatile performance which makes crossovers so popular. There are nine versions of the R-Class globally, but not all are available in the U.S. The 2011 R-Class was unveiled in March at the New York International Auto Show. Exterior tweaks include the grille and surround, mirrors, fenders, headlamps and bumpers. Blind Spot Monitoring is built into the mirror and the grille was changed to black with some chrome accents. LED daytime running lights are new in the 2011 model and the headlights are now tinted Bi-Xenons. On the back side, LED taillights were added the exhaust tips integrated. A Sport Package will be offered with this model which includes dark tinted front glass, dark tinted LED taillights, adaptive damping system, air suspension and 20-inch AMG wheels. The 3.5-liter V6 engine has 268 horsepower with seven-speed automatic. â€This car turns travel into a pleasant experience,†claims Markus Rubenbauer, Mercedes-Benz senior product manager for the R-Class. It also can carry up to seven passengers and offers a roomy ride for everyone. Darien used Mercedes customers will be able to take the whole gang along. The interior is two-tone and has lots of shiny gauges and aluminum, chrome and wood trim which will delight any driver. The cargo space is amazing and the center seats will fold down to accommodate large loads. The driver gets a power adjustable seat and there are auto-dimming mirrors, leather covered steering wheel and shift knob and a sliding glass sunroof. The size of this vehicle does create a challenge for parking in tight spaces, but Mercedes-Benz has thoughtfully provided a rear view camera to allow for safe backing. The ride in the R-Class is smooth on the open road and safety is covered with eight airbags, Neck-Pro headrests and the Pre-Safe occupant safety system. Darien Mercedes-Benz ML350 buyers can’t help but want an upgrade to all these cool amenities.
