Diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by high levels of blood glucose simple sugar that provides energy to cells of the human body. Diabetes develops when the body does not produce or effectively uses a hormone called insulin, which helps to remove excess glucose from the blood.

The most common type of diabetes is type 2 diabetes, caused by weakness of the body to produce enough insulin or can not use it properly. The second most common type of diabetes is Type 1 diabetes, which occurs when the body can no longer produce this vital hormone.

Type 1 Diabetes:
Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body no longer produces insulin, the hormone that helps to remove excess glucose simple sugar "energizing" the cells of the human body from the blood. People with type 1 diabetes should be treated with additional injections of insulin. Type 1 diabetes represents 10-15% of all diseases and diabetes occurs more frequently in children and adolescents.

Diabetes type 2:
Type 2 diabetes, which occurs mainly in adults, are more common than type 1 diabetes, corresponding to approximately 90-95% of all cases diagnosed. Patients with type 2 diabetes can not produce or effectively use a hormone called insulin, which helps to remove excess glucose from the blood. Type 2 diabetes has different causes and may go unnoticed for many years to people in distress. It may be decades elapse before symptoms begin to appear, and for this reason, the first diagnosed in middle-aged or elderly, well after the time that has already started the damage to the body.

Understanding of how the diabetes affects the body, you can understand the need to work with the nursing team to get the best possible treatment.

The main goal of diabetes treatment is to restore blood sugar glucose concentrations in the blood as close to normal, with the greatest possible security, and maintain them there.

To maintain the blood glucose values at the concentration is targeted. What will the merger is subject to the decision of your doctor for proper control of blood sugar, or to deal with major and minor complications of diabetes, while maintaining good control of other diseases often found among diabetics.

This is the starting point of your treatment. The first thing to understand is that the proper treatment of diabetes should:

Moreover, as tend to be active through the maintenance of aerobic exercise to improve the absorption and consumption of glucose.

Weight Reduction:
Losing weight is not easy. Remember that the first goal of treatment is to return the blood glucose concentrations at normal values. Weight reduction will help both now and in the future because reducing the mass of fatty tissue in your body will reduce the amount of insulin required to activate these cells to absorb glucose daily. However, you can not diet - lightning. Rapid weight loss can be dangerous. It sets your body in great stress and may cause irregular drops in your blood sugar. Let your doctor to establish goals to reduce weight and help you with a method to achieve them.
