Digital Camera Types And Guidelines On Choosing One

By: JenniferAbej Home | Computers-and-Technology

Popularity of digital cameras has risen greatly in the past decade. These compact and stylish devices have become a 'must-have' with everyone now. Unlike traditional cameras , digital cameras allow you to have an instant view of the pictures that you have taken and this is considered as one of their greatest benefits.
Digital cameras also offer greater flexibility when it comes to preserving your pictures and sharing it with others. You can easily connect your camera to the PC and save the pictures for your future use. These devices also allow you to record videos of your special moments. In the long run you can also save on the money you spend on camera films.

Digital Cameras can be broadly classified into Point and Shoot Cameras and SLR Cameras .

1. Point and Shoot Cameras
Most of the consumer cameras fall into the point and shoot category. This includes the subcompact cameras which can easily fit into our pocket and the compact cameras which are slightly bigger in size than their subcompact counterparts

2. SLR Cameras
Single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras are meant for more serious use by expert photographers. Often bulkier than the point and shoot cameras, these have the ability to deliver professional looking photographs even under the toughest conditions.

Choosing the right camera which matches your needs requires a comparison of the different brands and the prices. Apart from this the user also needs to keep in mind a variety of other factors including the camera resolution, LCD size, zoom capacity, picture clarity, memory capacity, lens quality, focusing ability and many others. These will often give you an idea about the overall performance of the digital camera. The cost of these cameras increase proportionally with the features. The ultimate choice should be taken keeping in mind the types of photos that the user takes and what he intends to do with them.
Sony , Canon , Kodak , Olympus , Panasonic , Nikon and Casio are some of the popular camera manufacturing companies with a team of specialist technologists .These companies constantly come up with new and better models to satisfy customer needs.
