Discover The Amazing Benefits Of Omega3 Fish Oil Supplements

By: V K Rajagopalan Home | Health-and-Fitness

It's unbelievable that ever since time immemorial, people have been advocating the regular intake of fish oil, or to be more precise: cod liver oil. This dietary supplement is the precursor of almost all omega3 fish oil supplements in the market these days. Although there have been major modifications in the processing methods of this aforementioned product, some of the foremost benefits of omega3 rich fish oils remain relatively the same.

According to health care experts then, two of the primary benefits of regularly incorporating fish oil in one's diet are:

1. Lessening the inflammation that happens on the body

2. Lowering down one's blood pressure

Inflammation happens when the body is subjected to any kind of pathogenic stress or trauma. While high blood pressure or hypertension is usually associated with improper balance of food nutrients in the system.

One of the essential fatty acids called omega3 is now proven to contain anti-inflammatory properties which is necessary in fending off unwanted bacteria, fungi or viruses that may attack open sores or wounds in the body. At the same time, anti-inflammatory properties help strengthen the immune system by making anti-bodies develop more rapidly and act faster against invading foreign bodies. Both of these properties make the healing process go relatively faster and easier on the person.

Additionally, omega3 fatty acids are said to regulate cholesterol; or rather, bad cholesterol, which happens to be the main culprit behind a person's escalating and chronic high blood pressure. Regulating cholesterol levels can be achieved by striking the right balance between DHA and EPA compounds. DHA stands for docosahexaenoic acid, while EPA stands for eicosapentaenoic acid, both of which constitute the alpha receptors that help regulate carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism.

Over the years, various researches and technological advancements in the different fields of medicine and science are finding other key areas where omega3 proves not only beneficial, but life saving as well. Some of the more amazing beneficial claims to the regular intake of omega3 fatty acids include:

1. Reducing the risk of depression among teens and adults. According to the studies, a diet rich in omega3 compounds have made people who are prone to depression, become less violent or less likely to think of suicide. Apparently, high levels of omega3 in the system help block out receptors that triggers these tendencies in the brain.

2. Reducing the risk or delaying the onset of Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. The same way certain receptors block off the depression impulses, neurotoxins that trigger or speed up diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's (and other brain-related illnesses like schizophrenia and stroke) are also blocked off by a rich supply of omega3 in the diet. In certain studies, it has shown that giving or increasing omega3 supplements to people who carry the Alzheimer's disease genes early on in life, help delay cognitive problems (e.g. memory loss) that are usually associated with this disease.

3. Reducing the risk or delaying the onset of heart related ailments. Since omega3 is known to lower bad cholesterol, health care providers are recommending 1 to 3 grams of fish oil as either preventive or corrective measures for people who may be at risk for coronary diseases. The same is true for people who may already be suffering from various heart related ailments like ventricular arrhythmias.

Incredibly, there are other studies revolving around the possibility of omega3 fish oil delaying, preventing and even curing certain forms of cancer. Although this kind of research may still be on its experimental stages, it is nonetheless proving that regularly taking omega3 in one's diet can have amazing benefits in the end.

I have also been on omega3 fish oil for a few years now after I was diagnosed with diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure. I am very happy to say that my blood pressure is completely normal and I am off any medicine. My diabetes and cholesterol are also very well under control and I have reasons to believe that this turnaround is due to my regular intake of omega3 supplements.
