The dissertation can also be described as a â€research paper’ or thesis. The word "Dissertation" is derived from a Latin word which means "discourse." Academic referencing also plays an important role in the Literature review, as it shows previous research within the subject area. â€Questionnaire development: One or more questionnaires need to be prepared in order to conduct surveys and to build a research database that can further be analysed and quantified within the dissertation. â€Data collection and database construction: There are various sampling techniques available for the collection of data through which the data can be retrieved from a particular population. â€Research design, analysis, and statistics: Descriptive designs can either be descriptive, causal or exploratory. Analysis tools may include pie-charts, bar-charts, tables, percentages and various other analysis software which are freely available to the student such as SPSS. â€Results presentation and preparation of the final report. The final report needs to follow certain predefined norms which are a must for a thesis to be completed.
