Donate A Car To Charity : How To Go About Doing It And Why

By: Ray Lam.... Home | Automotive

A lot of people donate money or items for charity because they want to share their blessings to the underprivileged. However, there are also some folks who do it just for the tax write off. Anyway, it does not matter what their intentions are because the important thing is that they shared their money to the needy.

Surely, you would be able to generate cash, but there are just too many risks and procedures, you surely would end up resenting you ever put up the used car for sale. Taxes could also chase after you, plus the tediousness and setbacks of possible ownership transfer woes. Thus, it is high time you do a car charity initiative.

A car charity initiative would have you donate your used car to a charitable institution of your choice. Nowadays, almost all charities are openly and willingly accepting such donations. Used cars are fast becoming a popular form of good deed donation, as owners use the car charity initiative as an effective and convenient means to dispose the used car.

A lot of people still make car donations to charity, though they are less common than money donations. These kinds of donations happen a lot in the month of December because many people are after the last minute tax deduction. Do you know where to go for car donations to charity? If you don?t, then you should call the local charities in your community to find one that will accept your car. They will be able to point you in the direction of someone who would love to have the car or truck you want to donate if they do not want it.

To make sure that you are dealing with a trustworthy charity, you should ask what they are planning to do with your vehicle. If they plan to sell your car, will they use a broker or not? You should also ask if the charity is receiving a large amount of the selling price, so that you know how much of the money will go directly to the cause you are trying to support. Your best choice is a charity that is collecting a percentage of the sales price, rather than the per-car flat fee.
