Well, finally. Let’s put away the dreams of clean diesel engine technology and focus on one area, huh? I mean, don’t get me wrong. I had some faith in clean diesel myself and I was excited to see what happened. And it’s just in time, as a bunch of other brands get ready to launch their first generation electric vehicles, cars like VW’s contender, the electric Up! city car. Downers Grove Volkswagen dealers are definitely ready to make waves, but they won’t be able to do that until 2013 when the Up! rolls out. Until then, it looks like the infamous German manufacturer is getting ready to satisfy the growing consumer desire for hybrid vehicles, cars that represent the changing landscape of the auto industry. At the same time, the cutting edge automaker is planning to satisfy the growing consumer demand for smaller cars by offering many of the same cars it already offers, some of which are acclaimed and even award winning, as many Downers Grove Volkswagen Tiguan dealers will tell you. The hybrids that VW recently announced it will roll out will be based on the popular Jetta, Golf and Passat models. It looks like the manufacturer plans to launch electric versions of the popular Golf and Jetta models very shortly after the launch of the Up! in 2013. Those are some seriously cutting edge vehicles and an ambitious amount of time to prepare them in, although VW may have been planning these launches for longer than we’ve known. Well, the race to become the world’s largest automaker is on, and it seems like VW is getting a leg up in it by really putting the heat on in the electric vehicle category. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the German automaker take the lead in the race; it is already equipped with the small car aesthetic, a really key detail in the future state of the American automotive atmosphere. With the rise of the small car comes the rise of the small car maker.
