Drug treatment program is basically cut into two parts, the detox or intervention stage and the psychological treatment stage. Detox stage can prove to be a really tough nut to crack as most addicts develop a habit of craving for drugs every now and then. Just like a normal person suffers from pangs of hunger, a drug addict suffers from the desire to have drugs at regular intervals. Drugs actually control the physical and psychological functioning of an addict. Weaning the addict away from drugs require much tact and resolve from the rehab centre staff. Withdrawal symptoms would crop up and only a drug intervention expert can help the addict here. The second stage involves group activities, counselling etc to make the addict understand the meaning of life. The addict may be in need of regular counselling even after the completion of his stay in the rehab centre. Successful drug rehabilitation actually means that the cured addict now stays away from all sorts of drugs, that also throughout his or her life.
