The life of a drug addict is miserable and ignominious. The harm done by prolonged drug abuse to the addict himself and his family is immeasurable. Hundreds of families crack under its pressure every year and thousands of people lose their loved ones to this menace. Unpredictability, physical illnesses, loss of love and respect, and ultimate death are the only outcomes of drug addiction. An untreated addict invariably ends his life in penury and misery. Many addicts, unfortunately, do not understand that they have a problem. For them, drug abuse is a prop to support their sagging lives. It is very difficult to make them see reason. But in many cases, the addict wants to get out of the dreadful tentacles, but cannot because his body is heavily dependent on drugs for survival. Drug rehab is the process of saving the addict from the clutches of addiction and set him back in the society as a healthy human being. Every drug treatment programs worth its salt is divided into two parts, the detox stage and the mind education stage. Overcoming drug dependency is difficult. Withdrawal symptoms would invariably crop up during drug intervention stage as the addict is in a make believe world where it can survive on nothing other than drugs. Mental treatment involves activities designed to build up self confidence and reliability of an addict. The emotional backgrounds of drug addiction is looked upon are cared for at this stage. Both the phases are equally important in drug addiction treatment. Drug treatment is not a simple mathematical process. It is a complex activity involving a multitude of measures to bring back normalcy in the life of an addict. Sober living is the only aim here. A good rehab centre strives hard to get the addict to the declared aim of regaining the lost sobriety and respectability. There are many drug rehab centres around us, but their success levels vary vastly due to the differences in approach and strategies. The overall atmosphere of the asylum also plays a big role in speedy recovery. The competence of the staff also matters, and so does their attitudes. Making an addict to see reason is no mean task. It involves utmost care and understanding from everybody working on him. Make sure that the drug rehab program run by the drug rehab centre is drug free and completely natural. Strenuous physical activities can wipe out the remains of toxins left behind in the body by drug abuse. These toxins control the receptors in the brain and never let anyone escape unless they are expunged effectively. Meditation, equine medicine, acupuncture etc are found to be excellent de-stressing agents. Some addicts have been found to go back into addiction due to lack of after care. So always look for rehab centres that offer after discharge counselling, otherwise all your efforts for gaining sobriety would be lost in a trice.
