Durability Of Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid

By: Vincent Peter Platania Home | Automotive

The durability of synthetic automatic transmission fluid will be discussed in this article.
The internal design of an automatic transmission is the most intricate of puzzles, full of imperative metal parts pressed

together by tiny springs and extremely thin, snap rings. Containing numerous clutches, gears, shafts, springs, and fluid

passages, this intricate design transmits the energy produced by the vehicle's engine to the wheels with smooth shifts or

speed changes. It is by far the most complex of all vehicle components and often, the most expensive to repair, as well.

Each of these many parts are subject to excessive wear from frictions, extreme temperatures, and very often, habitual, driver

abuse. There should be no surprise, then, in considering the complexity and durability of the fluid used for the protection

of this complex component. Synthetic automatic transmission fluid provides the most superior protection for an automatic

transmission because of it's extreme durability and stability.
Synthetic oils are produced by chemical engineers for a molecular uniformity and stability that simply can not be

found in conventional, petroleum based mineral oils. Traditional oils are refined from crude oil, and the molecules produced

are of different shape, size, and type. They thin and dissipate quicker than synthetic fluids between drain intervals,

leaving behind harmful byproducts and allowing unnecessary wear to occur in all vehicle applications. These adverse affects

are most noticeable in the more complex, automatic transmission. Synthetic automatic transmission fluid is more durable and

stable, and it will protect the clutch packs inside an automatic transmission from losing their friction face materials

during use. It is better designed for it's necessary hydraulic purposes, as well. Synthetic fluids are very additive rich

which helps in lowering friction levels and keeping internal metal parts cleaner during use. This helps them to resist

oxidation better, prevent varnish and sludge from building up over time, and promote better performance.
The durability of synthetic automatic transmission fluid elongates component life by better protecting it's internal

parts and, therefore, saves consumers money that would be spent in unnecessary or premature part repairs. â€Torque Drive,â€

Amsoil's special, synthetic automatic transmission fluid, is one very good example of a durably superior lubricant and

protecting fluid for automatic transmissions. It can be used in most vehicle applications for better shear, thermal, and

oxidative stability, friction durability, and extreme temperature performance. Like other synthetic fluids, â€Torque Driveâ€

will account for all deficiencies found in petroleum based oils, extending drain intervals, and saving consumers money from

fewer repairs and better performance.
Automatic transmissions are the most complex of all vehicle components. They are filled with several, tiny fluid passages,

dozens of clutches, gears, and shafts, and other intricate metal parts that are subject to intensive wear and oxidation

during use. The protection of these parts by the more durable synthetic automatic transmission fluid provides an

incomparable, performance superiority over conventional, mineral based fluids.
