Easy Tips To Cure Irregular Period And How We Can Make It Regular

By: Dr Charles Buchar Home | Health-and-Fitness

Irregular periods are simply those that are not regular. If you suffer from irregular periods, you simply will not know when your period is going to appear. Cycles can vary from 23 to 35 days, but they are classed as regular if your periods occur at roughly the same time each cycle. So, even if your periods are, say, 35 days apart instead of the usual 28, but they always appear at day 35, they would be classified as being 'normal'. Irregular periods can be extremely difficult or even impossible to track.

Causes

There are many factors which are responsible for irregular periods

1.A woman can have irregular periods due to significant weight loss or weight gain.

2.Over exercise can also result in irregular menstruation.

3.Poor nutrition and diet which is rich in carbohydrates is also related to hormonal imbalance and menstrual disturbances.

4.Some drugs can also cause irregularities in menstruation.

5.Many women who are smokers experience irregular periods.

6.Excessive intake of coffee is also a cause of irregular menstruation.

7.Some specific drugs can also cause menstrual irregularities.

8.Use of excessive alcohol can also disturb hormonal metabolism which also disturbs menstrual cycle.

9.Drug abusers can also have some irregularities in their periods.

Treatment is dependent on the reason for irregular periods. If the recent fitting of an IUD is causing irregular bleeding which does not settle within a few months, it may be wise to discuss removing it and changing to another method of contraception.

1.Eat a healthy well balanced diet that is low in fat. Avoid fad diets that restrict what you can eat and limit you to a calorie count that is too low for you needs. Fad diets can cause irregular periods.

2.Exercise within reason. Hormone imbalance occurs in women who exercise vigorously. Unless you are training for an athletic event, exercise moderately so your hormones return to normal for a regular menstrual cycle.

3.Get plenty of exercise. Physical exercise will keep your body healthy and your periods more regular. Exercise is also a good stress reliever to help you to deal with having irregular periods.

4.Reduce your stress levels, in both mind and body. Yoga is an effective physical exercise that also relieves stress. Both kinds of stress affect the hormones that regulate your menstrual cycle.

5.Avoid caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant and it can contribute to irregular periods. Caffeine can also interfere with getting a good night's sleep. It is important to get six to eight hours of solid sleep each night to stay healthy.

6.The time between ovulation and the next menstrual period is known as the lacteal phase. During the lacteal phase, cervical mucus decreases and dries out. As the next menstrual period approaches, premenstrual syndrome symptoms may appear, such as cramps, moodiness, bloating and headaches. For most women, the lacteal phase is between 10 and 16 days long, with a 14-day average. An abnormally short lacteal phase can cause infertility problems, so it is important to track your lacteal phase on your calendar and see your doctor if you have concerns.

7.Alternative Medicine: If coping methods and simple lifestyle changes aren't working and a woman is still experiencing the frustrating symptom of irregular periods, there are further treatment options which are available. Alternative medicines and treatments which address the hormonal imbalance at the source are the most effective method of treatment, particularly when implemented in conjunction with lifestyle changes.
