February 24, 2011 Google announced a major change in their search algorithms. The stated purpose of this change is to "reduce the classification of low-quality sites ... [and] give a better positioning of sites of high quality." High quality sites are defined as "original content sites and information and research reports in depth, thoughtful analysis and so on." This change directly addresses the so-called "content mills," which beat hundreds if not thousands of articles a day on almost every imaginable theme - items that often have little or no use to the reader. How do windmills work content? There are a number of websites out there that encourage users to create content. I have written a handful of them myself.
