Talk of desserts and it is cakes that top the choice charts. While this sweet delight is designed to appease your taste buds, there is no harm in pepping up the visual appeal too. Well decorated cakes look extremely engaging and can tempt even the extremely calorie conscious too to take a bite. Though the job of decorating a cake may seem to be a little challenging, it isn't not as difficult as it may appear to be. One of the easiest techniques to decorate a cake is to play with the icing. The topping not just helps give a soft and smooth surface to the cake but also makes it visually appealing. You can use a single colored topping or dual colored icing for this reason. If you are employing a dual colored icing, you can divide the cake into two halves and spread either of the icing on each side. Another thing that you can do is- put both the topping together in a container and slightly shake the container so thatthe layers of both the icings are visible. This may help create a marbled effect. Another easy way to embellish the cake would be to use the fork. Once the icing is frozen, you can simply run your fork through the frosting to create check patterns or diagonal lines. If you're good at making such designs, you can also employ a tooth pick to make even more complicated patterns or write names. Once you have finished making the more complicated patterns, you can further emboss the design with the help of chocolate sauce or flavored syrup. You can also use fruits of different colors to decorate a cake. You may use fruits which work best for cakes such as grapes, kiwis, mangoes, oranges and strawberries. However, before using them on your cake, dip the fruits in a mixture of water and lemon juice to ensure that they do not turn black and stay fresh for a longer period. You may also create beautiful patterns on the cake by placing different colored fruits. If you'd rather not put into much of an effort into decorating your cake, you might purchase eatable flowers from your local market. These are generally available and can be put on the cake or it's periphery to make gorgeous designs. Alternatively, you can also opt for cake toppers. These cake toppers are easily available in the market. They are often available as the edible flowers and come in different varieties guaranteed to meet your necessities, whatever they may be. Thus, as the above points prove, decorating a cake isn't that complicated after all. And the end result is a beautiful cake which looks as succulent as it tastes.
