By: Ashlyn Baul Home | Health-and-Fitness

Nasal congestion can easily be cured with the help of garlic and tomato soup. For the preparation of this soup you have to take 2-3 tomatoes which are to be boiled in a cup of water. Add a tea spoon of the paste of garlic, black pepper powder and pepper. This soup gives a great relief from the nasal blockage. It is very effective home remedy for nasal obstruction.

Viral infections make the nose less likely to resist a new bacterial infection, which is why most people will get a nasal or sinus infection immediately following a cold. An infection is at work when the mucus from your cold goes from clear to yellow or green - this is when you need to see your physician.

Causes of Nasal Congestion

-Hay fever and other allergies
-Influenza
-Sinus infection or sinusitis
-Overuse some nasal sprays

Dietary changes can go a long way to keeping the congestion from getting out of hand in the first place. Raising your intake of vitamin C and zinc will be a pro-active step in dealing with nasal congestion in the home. Another easy way to deal with mucus is to stay hydrated. Instead on the old saw of eight glasses of water a day, set a goal of one half ounce of water for every pound you weigh.

Mix one cup of tomato juice, a teaspoon of freshly minced garlic, half a teaspoon of hot sauce, a teaspoon of lemon juice and a pinch of salt. This drink is packed with vitamin C and immune system boosting agents.
2. Mix together 2 teaspoons of oregano oil, 2 cloves of garlic, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, a bit of sea salt and eight ounce of water. Place this mixture in your microwave for about 3 minutes.

By alternate thrusting the tongue against the roof of the mouth, pressing between the eyebrows with one finger. This causes the bone that runs through the nasal passages to the mouth to rock back and forth. This should be exercised for 15 to 20 minutes. While sleeping as well one can take an extra pillow under the head to allow the person to breathe with comfort.

If your baby seems to become more congested when playing on a carpeted floor, he could possibly be sensitive to mold and mildew spores or other chemicals used in the carpet manufacturing process. Carpet is notorious for providing a great home for mold and mildew spores as well as other contaminants that can easily be sent airborne

While steam might seem so obvious it is not worth mentioning, it actually is one of the most beneficial ways of naturally treating congestion. A towel over the head while hovering over a sink of hot water, a long steamy hot shower with the door closed, even a vaporizer; all of these techniques end up with the same result... steam to the nasal passageway.

Another remedy that you may want to consider is saline nasal sprays. These are very effective especially when used in combination with some medication. The spray bottle is put into your nostrils and when you press on it, the pump like effect releases a soothing mist into your nose. There are many different kinds of solutions that you can decide to go with.
