Pricing and technology. There are several vendors in the marketplace, promoting EHR software. Be sure to check out the pricing, and choose something that is within your budget. You also want to choose a software that his developed on stable and well recognized platforms such as Java or Windows. Some software vendors develop their applications using proprietary programming languages. This usually makes the applications harder to integrate with other software. Finally, always ask for a trial or a demo to see how the software actually functions. Clarify any doubts with the vendor and make sure that the software works as promised. Also, as a physician, be prepared to spend time learning the software, and creating templates for your practice. Time is required both from your software vendor, as well as from the doctor and office staff. One last major factor to consider is how dedicated you as a doctor are to the success of the changeover to EHR Software.
