As motorscooter owners know, there are many benefits to owning an electric motor scooter or gas powered moped. Some of them are obvious, such as high gas mileage. SCOOTERS SAVE MONEY: 1. Gas Powered Motor Scooters are fuel-efficient with many scooters and mopeds achieving 80+ miles per gallon, compared to 20 miles per gallon for the average automobile. 2. Gas Powered Motor Scooters amd Electric Mopeds require less insurance than an automobile. Many customers simply add a new motorscooter to their existing car insurance policy. The cost to insure a moped will vary depending on the owner's age and driving record, but some customers insure their motor scooter for as little as $5 to $10 per month. 3. Electric Motor Scooters have low maintenance costs and are so easy to work on that normal maintenance items, which for a car would require a professional mechanic, can be done easily by motor scooter owners. Examples would be adjusting a carburetor, changing a spark plug and replacing belts. Since an engine on a motor scooter doesn't have to be moved, many parts are exposed so that even novice moped owners can work on their own bikes. 4. Motor scooter registration for 50cc mopeds in many states do not require they be registered or licensed, but because they are DOT compliant, scooters and mopeds can be ridden on the streets. Auto registration, on the other hand, can cost hundreds of dollars. MOTORSCOOTERS SAVE TIME: 1. Gas Powered Mopeds and Electric Motor Scooters are easy to maneuver in traffic. Since scooters are much smaller than cars, they can easily slide in and out of traffic, especially during high traffic commute hours in larger cities. 2. Motor scooters can be parked on a sidewalk, right outside of a business. Also, many universities allow motor scooters and mopeds to be parked in bicycle racks. Result...save money on a parking pass. In many public areas, parking a moped is free. 3. Maintaining a moped scooter is not only cheaper than a car, but is less time consuming. If you need to replace the head on your car engine, expect a very costly and time consuming procedure. With one of our motor scooters or mopeds, anyone with limited mechanical experience can do this in a matter of hours. MOTOR SCOOTERS ARE EASY TO USE: Everyone learned to ride a bicycle when they were very young. Many of the same principles are used in moped riding. In fact, it is easier to achieve balance on a motor scooter, because reliance is on the power of the engine, not the legs. This helps a scooter rider to maintain a balanced position. MOTOR SCOOTER RIDING MADE EASY: 1. All motor scooters and moped models are twist and go, meaning that a simple twist on the right handgrip will engage the moped. Gears do not have to be shifted, like a motorcycle, which can be intimidating for someone concentrating on driving. 2. All motor scooters come with kick starters, but, unlike older scooters, that is not the only way to start a moped. All models feature one-touch electric starters, as well as remote starters, which are on the keychain that comes with each scooter. Push the lightning bolt button twice, and without the key even being in the ignition, the scooter will start. Push the crossed-out lightning bolt button, and the moped shuts down. 3. Premixing gas and oil used to be common in most motor scooters. Four-stroke scooters solve that problem by erasing the need for injection oil. ELECTRIC MOTOR SCOOTERS AND GAS POWERED MOPEDS ARE FUN! The economics of scooter riding and the ease of use are two important factors to consider when purchasing a motor scooter. However, the bottom line is that scooter riding is flat out fun. When driving a car, people are removed from the outside world. They are in an enclosed cocoon and do not really see the world around them, smell the scents, feel the breeze, or hear the sounds of nature. There is a tremendous feeling of freedom when hitting the open road on a motor scooter. Many of the same sensations of riding a motorcycle are experienced, without the dangers of big engines and super-fast speeds. Scooter riders notice small things, like the way the temperature can drop 10 degrees when driving down the bottom of a hill. Many motor scooter owners ride to reduce stress. The world is calmer when on the back of a moped. In today's wired world, where people are always a phone call, fax or email away from the real world, riding a moped might just be therapeutic. Many of our owners also share their love of motorscooter riding with their children. Kids are not intimidated by scooters as they are with motorcycles. They enjoy the sensory experience of motorscooters more than most adults, because they are not yet desensitized to their feelings. It is not possible to see a child on a moped without a huge smile on their face. gaspoweredmopeds
