Engagement rings look very beautiful and elegant that it almost takes your breath away. The jewelers offer a variety of choices and most often it's hard to select one. Sometimes, even the jewelry jargon would look very confusing. Basically, people tend to select the engagement ring based on three main factors; the type of the metal, value of the diamond and style or design of the ring that would best suit their fiance. It is a known fact that girl's just adore diamonds. So anyone can go for the diamond without giving a second thought. The diamond engagement rings come in a wide variety of colors, sizes and qualities. Commonly the diamonds that appear in engagement rings are seen in white color. The quality of the diamond can be determined by the size of the stone. Also the jewelers determine quality based on inclusions i.e. the minute traces of non-crystallized carbon from where diamonds come from. These inclusions cannot be traced by the naked eye. If the inclusions are more, the sparkle would be less in the diamond. If you are particular about getting a white diamond for engagement ring, you must convey it to the jeweler about your needs. This is because even though many diamonds may appear clear and white, they may actually have yellow and brown shades in them and this can be checked by comparing them side by side. Generally the weight of the diamond is measured in carats unlike the common belief that the carat is measured in size. The cut of the diamond is equally important since that gives the sparkle and brilliance to the stone. Once you have selected the diamond for your engagement ring, you can choose the ring band. Mostly the rings are made in gold or platinum. Some people even go for white gold or yellow gold. While considering cost wise, the platinum is the most expensive one. The gold usually comes in 18 or 14 carat and can be white, yellow or rose gold. For engagement rings, 18 carat gold would be the best choice as it would last for a lifetime and also it would suit your budget too. The design of the engagement ring comes after the diamond and band. It is also important to choose the perfect design for your ring. The design is selected based on four basic things; the ring should be practical for wearing, it has to bear everyday use, hold the diamond firmly and also should look appealing and genuine. However all these factors would depend upon your personal preferences. Practicality of the ring means the convenience that the ring offers. If it is in a higher setting, there are more chances that it will catch on things. So it would not be able to withstand everyday wear. So go for a style that would be heavy and would bear the daily wear. It is extremely important that the ring should securely hold the diamond. The six prongs generally give tight security for the diamond. A heavier setting would be stronger and a lower setting is less likely to be damaged than a higher setting. The look and appeal of the ring is largely your personal choice. So go for a ring that would impress your lady.
