Enjoy Golf Fitness

By: Dan Beebe Home | Recreation-and-Sports | Golf

Perhaps a person is looking to get involved with something that will get them moving but won't be too strenuous on joints and hearts. If this is the case there may be nothing better than getting involved with golf fitness.

Start Light

Getting out and going on anything in the fresh air on a nice day is a perfect first step to any exercise program. Golf fitness will allow for just that. A person can take it as easy or as fast and hard as they may enjoy, making this routine very flexible. Swinging the arms to get a ball out there is a great way to improve concentration and circulation. When first starting, it may be wise to only go to the driving range. This can allow a person to get a feel for the swing, and what it may be doing for them without the pressure of finishing a certain amount of holes before the end of the day. After this has been tried and found to be enjoyable it's great to move on to getting nine holes in. Choose a day when the course isn't packed and neither is a person's schedule. This will allow for any breaks if they are needed, and keep a person from feeling tense as other players move up from behind.

Get More Involved

Once a few rounds have been covered and a person finds it enjoyable and working to get them more fit, it's possible to step it up a notch. Now that a person has discovered nine holes are great and they are feeling better than ever, it's possible to do some more. Add on the back nine and get in a full day of fresh air, and exercise by playing all eighteen holes. If a person is enjoying the game with some friends it's a great opportunity to stretch those muscles out in between turns hitting the ball. Take a few moments to stretch those leg muscles, stretch the arms and generally get the blood flowing to all body parts.

Ramp It Up And Skip The Cart

Now that a person has been enjoying the course on all eighteen holes, it may be a fantastic idea to get those clubs in a light enough caddy bag that walking the course is what is on the agenda. This kind of exercise combined with swinging arms and stretches is the very key to golf fitness. It's best to make sure to pack light and have a quality caddy bag that can easily be brought along. The first time a person decides to skip the cart and go for the walk, it's best to choose nine holes over eighteen. This gives the player a chance to see how well this goes before opting for the whole course. It's great to go with a friend because this allows a person to feel a bit of comradeship on this trek they'll be making when getting both fit and better golfing skills under the ever tightening belt.
