Ergonomic Drum Dumpers

By: Home | News-and-Society

If you regularly use drums in order to store production waste, you will almost certainly have discovered that despite their convenience as a waste bin, the weight that they are able to contain can become a hindrance when it comes to unloading them. In order to get the contents of the drum into a skip or other disposal area, a drum dumper is the ideal piece of equipment, and plays an important role in the waste handling process.

In essence, a drum dumper is a relatively simple piece of equipment. It lifts a 55 gallon drum into the air and over a pivot to allow the contents of the drum to be poured out into a waiting skip. The drum is clamped into place in order to prevent it slipping out of place, and ensuring that the drum can be reused.

With a standard drum being able to hold as much as 1,500 pounds of waste, lifting it up manually is impractical, and even standard drum lifting equipment is not generally designed to make pouring and emptying easy. As a result, a drum dumper is the perfect tool for making it possible to get rid of waste without any physical effort.

Drum dumpers feature a hard wearing construction and are very flexible in use, able to handle both 55 and 30 gallon drums. The drum is fitted into place and secured using the clamps. Then, at the touch of a button, the powerful hydraulic rams are able to hoist the drum and its contents into the air and pivot them. Once the drum has been lifted to the highest point, the contents will fall along a hard wearing chute into the waiting skip or other receptacle ready for processing, or proper off site disposal as appropriate.

Choose from static and semi portable designs of drum dumper. That way, if your unit generates a large amount of waste, you can move the dumper along a row of individual dumpsters or containers in order to keep your operation as efficient as possible.

Thanks to its simple 2 button operation, high powered motor, and general ease of use, staff can be trained to operate the system extremely quickly, meaning that you have a minimum of unproductive time.

Some companies also offer a food safe FDA approved stainless steel version of the standard drum dumper, which is ideal for industrial food production centers, where large quantities of ingredients such as flour and oil need to be added to a mixer as efficiently as possible. This provides an excellent method of utilizing a high quality piece of equipment in order to simplify your production system and boost productivity.

There are a number of considerations that you need to make when choosing the equipment for your industrial unit or factory, but one of your main concerns should always be the balance of safety and speed and cost. A drum dumper will exceed your expectations in many ways and provide you with the kind of reliability that you need in the modern industry.
