One of the easiest and most profitable online businesses to set up is Affiliate Marketing. The advantage of affiliate marketing being you do not need to have your own products to sell. This system works by joining an online company's affiliate scheme and promote their products, earning a comission from each sale made through your affiliate link.

Tip 1: Do some market research.

Before signing up to any affiliate scheme, you have to be sure that the products you wish to promote will actually sell. To make sure you have chosen an in demand product you will have to research the current demand for the product in question.One way to research is to use keyword tools such as the Google keywords, Overture or Market Samurai.

Tip 2: Check the terms and conditions.

When you sign up for any affiliate scheme, it is important to be aware of rules some companies operate. For example you may find that pay outs are based on high commission earnings. This could leave you waiting quite a while for a pay-out and in some cases never receive any commissions as you have not reached the pay-out target. When choosing a program, try to find one with a high commission rate. Downloadable products such as e-books and software generally include higher commission rates as there is no physical product to dispatch. If happy with the terms and conditions and you are confident of the products potential, you should then sign up.

Tip 3: Build an Affiliate products website.

To promote the affiliate products you will need a platform to promote from. There are a few options you could consider. One such option is to build a website with various affiliate products you have signed up for. When a customer visits your site to purchase a product, your buy now button links back to the site selling the product. The buy now button on your site includes a unique code in the link which identifies you as the affiliate. This could be an excellent way of earning multiple income streams from one site.

Tip 4: Promoting by email.

A popular option used by many marketers is to use email marketing to promote affiliate products. Of course to do this we would need a list of subscribers to send the offer to. We can attract subscribers by setting up a squeeze page, which offers a free gift in exchange for a name and valid email address. You would have to purchase a domain and web space to host your squeeze page though. Once set up and with customers subscribing to our list, we are legally free to send them emails promoting our affiliate products.

Tip 5: Attracting Traffic.

To make any affiliate sales on your website or attract any subscribers to your list, people have to know we exist. The quickest way to do this is set up some paid advertising campaigns. There are many different advertising companies, with Google Adwords and Facebook advertising being two of the more popular.
